According to His Love...

Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O Lord.
Psalm 5:7
I was 10 years old when my mother passed.  I have only slight memories of her.  One memory I do not have of her is of viewing her body at a funeral.  She didn't want to be remembered that way.  It was our choice though, as her children, whether or not we wanted to view her body prior to the funeral.  I chose not to.

I remember the softness of her touch.  I remember her laugh.  I remember the taste of her lipstick after she would kiss me.  I remember her cooking.  I remember her smile.  I remember her hands.

I think of her only according to her life ~ not her death.

Our heavenly Father only thinks of us according to one thing ~ His mercy.

He doesn't remember the sins.  He doesn't remember the transgressions.  He doesn't remember the cursing, the backstabbing, the lust, the...

He doesn't think of us according to our past.  He thinks of us according to His love.

When He thinks of us, He doesn't say, "Oh that's the child that stole, lied, cheated, etc.."  He says instead, "Oh, that's the child I loved so much that I died for them."

His picture of us is one of life ~ not death.

We should remember ourselves the same way.
