He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God.
God has shown us in His Word what it is that He wants from us.
When you truly love something, you place it before yourself. I love my wife. I love my children. I place their interests before myself.
If I love mercy, I am going to grant mercy to someone even if it means that I will suffer or be denied something through that merciful action.
Someone lied about you? Mercy. Justly.
Rebellious children? Mercy. Justly.
Know someone that requires extra effort on your part to maintain the relationship? In Spanish, there is a word: pesada (pay-SA-da). It means 'heavy'. It can be applied to a person also. Someone who is 'pesada' is very needy; always causing you to be on your toes - so as not to offend them. They are easily offended. These people are very heavy on your emotions and patience and attention.
Pesada people require mercy ~ and grace ~ lots of it ~ at least until they can be delivered!
Love Mercy. Place Mercy before all else. Justly.
